How to Use a Planner Properly to Make Your Goals a Reality!

daily-planner-printable.jpg

As you know, new goals come and go. But the reality is that when we make new goals, it’s important to set a clear plan in place in order to achieve them. If you fail to plan, it will be excruciatingly difficult to accomplish your goals because you don’t have a guided road-map. This lack of a plan may make your path more challenging than you had anticipated.

When we do try to make our goals a reality (although no path is perfect in life), having a documented plan in place where you can record each task, appointment, or event you take, can assist you in making your goals positively fruitful.

A detailed plan using a life planner can make all the difference!

Now you don’t have to necessarily plan your goals on the first day of the year. Although many people do this because come December, more often than not, people are more reflective about their lives and they often want to make resolutions and plans for their future. So it’s not unusual for these resolutions and plans to begin in January of the coming year.

However, our goals can happen at any time. That is why the planner that I’ve created for you (that I’ll share details about later in this post), takes that in account. It’s a planner that allows you to begin whenever you’re ready! Whether it’s the start of the year in January, or mid-year in June or in the last quarter of the year. As you know, circumstances change all the time and so does the timing life events – which also affects the timing of our decisions. So a planner that takes these things into consideration is a planner worth using.

Your Goals Are Timeless

Now if you’re anything like me, you’ve most likely already invested in a planner, but your excitement for how you are going to use it has tapered off – especially since it has gone unused for some time and now, your planner doesn’t allow you the freedom to start when you want without wasting a bunch of pages that become out-dated as each day has ended.

You need a planner that gives you the freedom to start and stop when you want.

But the question remains, how do you properly use a planner correctly anyways without wasting money, becoming confused and overwhelmed, frustrated with yourself for not using it, or feeling guilty that you have unused pages that have now gone to waste since the dates of your planner have already passed?

No manuals or guides accompany planners that give you instructions on how to use them. All you see are yearly, monthly, weekly and daily spreads.

Well, I’m going to share with you exactly how to use this planner (which you can gain access to instantly at the link below).

These planner pages within the planner, will work wonders for your business, personal life or organization!

So, let me explain how to use an undated printable planner like this one.

I’m going to explain exactly how to use the planner in order for you to accomplish your goals and feel as though you were productive and moving forward and closer to accomplishing your goals.

Not only will this maximize how your spend your time with the use of a planner like this, but it will also ensure that you effectively use your time effectively, while taking actionable steps to get you closer to your dreams!

Tips on How to Correctly Use a Planner to Effectively Accomplish Your Goals!

1. Plan your day every day!

A daily planner spread can help you achieve this. One that allows you to write down the tasks that are aligned with your goals, along with giving you extra space to add other personal to-dos is key!

It helps you to stay organized, while giving you clarity knowing what you have a simple guide to help you get there.

Having a planner that you can easily print and that’s totally portable is also a huge benefit. This allows you to print more pages whenever necessary. Planners that also give you enough space on the pages to write clearly are also quite useful. This visibility gives you a clear visual of your day allowing you to easily read your notes without the overwhelm of having limited space to write in.

2. Planners that begin with a broad overview of the year ahead are best.

One’s that begin with the year and then going more narrow listing each month, each week and each day can help you plan better so that you can easily gauge how you’ll accomplish your goals in a more linear way. But what’s great about this type of broadness is that it still gives you the freedom and versatility to plan in a way that best suits you and your planning style.

Remember, in the planner shared on this page, you can print as many or as little pages as needed. I’ve also included blank custom pages for calendars, lists and charts that you can label yourself because after all, everyone’s visual road-map is different. The way you see things visually and how you interpret that visual layout may be different then the next person. So, a planner like this one only makes sense. It made sense for me, so I thought I’m sure there are others who also value a planner layout like this.

I like planning and printing my planner pages to suit my needs, my style and my visual interpretation of a schedule of events, in order to create a plan that works without any limitations.

TIP! So, as you plan for your goals, remember to always begin with the most broad time block (yearly) and then narrow it down from there into monthly, weekly and daily to do’s.

3. Planners with a broad overview to one with more narrowly detailed daily pages work best.

Those which are broken down by broad yearly, monthly pages and then more detailed weekly and then daily pages, are necessary to help you in your achievements.

Let me explain each in more detail...

Your Yearly Plan – Plan out your year with important to-do’s that you want to accomplish for each month. Record all of the important dates, national holidays, events, personal birthdays, vacations etc., to ensure you take these dates into account when you’re planning out your life goals. This way nothing will get in the way of your ultimate goal or mission in life, when you take into account the things that you need to do for these life events to happen. This at-a-glance yearly snapshot, will give you a nice overview for your year and the coming months ahead. And this yearly overview will allow you to never forget any important dates that could interfere with your overall goals. Writing everything down in a planner is crucial.

Your Monthly Plan – After recording your year ahead, getting a bit more detailed with your monthly plan is very important. A monthly plan allows you to get more detailed on important due dates for those things you have lined up. This allows you to visualize any upcoming dates or to-do’s so that you can better plan your months ahead.

Your Weekly Plan – Get more detailed with your projects, tasks, meetings, deadlines and other to-dos for the week. This broad weekly overview is key to accomplishing any necessary tasks for the near future that you want to ensure are completed for the week. And weekly plans can really make planning each day that much easier.

Your Daily Plan – Daily to-do lists and written schedules for meetings, events and deadlines. This is the place where you’ll get really detailed.

Obviously all of your meetings, birthdays, must-do schedules etc., can be detailed all the way down to the time of day. Daily planners are so useful since they’re very actionable allowing you to meticulously plan out your days with detailed precision. I find them incredibly useful in helping me plan and record each task to ensure that it gets done and on time! Best of all, I have the option to time-block important tasks and can see it visually with a daily planner.

For example, if you’re writing content for your blog, you can block off 2 hours to write 2 articles for the week ahead. The same can be true for any task, whether that be responding to emails to clients, or posting on social media. This time-blocking allows you to stay focused and demands that those important tasks get scheduled and completed. This makes daily planner pages even more ideal, especially when you need to stay on track!

Other Advantages of Having a Personal Planner ...

Flexibility & Creativity! Planners that have enough white space, like this one, allow you to write extra notes or even doodle or add color with colored pencils, stickers or add washi tape strips with cute designs. You can even add sticky note reminders to ensure all of those important events and tasks get done!

In this planner, I’ve also included empty dot pages to write or draw anything you like. Along with extra note and to-do list pages. These added pages gives you more freedom with your ideas so that you can create and record whatever you like in your planner.

You have total freedom, while staying accountable!

Portable Organizer – Having a personal planner that is portable and versatile allows you to take it wherever you want to go, or print as many pages as you’d like. But, best of all, it allows you to do a brain dump. Brain dumping gets all of those important things out of your head and down on paper. This frees up your mind and allows you to be more strategic and creative, so that you can focus on the overall plans and goals for your career, business and life.
